What Causes a 'Runtime 76' Error?

This error is a result of a missing temporary directory and only occurs on multiple user installations.

The cause is that when SnapCharT is launched, it sets the temporary files directory to that specific user's Windows Temporary Files directory. It uses this directory throughout the program whenever a chart file is created, opened, read, or deleted.

When another user of the same database launches SnapCharT while the first is still logged in, the database then changes the definition of the temp directory to that of the 2nd user. This causes the first user to get the error because the 2nd user's temp directory is not on their PC.

 As this is a very narrow and rare issue, we do not have the patch for this publicly available. To obtain it please contact techsupport@taproot.com and we can get you the patch to resolve this issue.
