-
Verify that the folder 'C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$TAPROOT'
does NOT
exist.
- Verify that in Add/Remove Programs an entry called "Microsoft SQL
Server Desktop Engine (TAPROOT)" does NOT
exist.
- Open a Command Prompt (DOS window) by going to the Start Button - Run
- and typing "cmd"
(no quotes) and hitting Enter
- Change to the MSDE setup directory with this command:
CD C:\Program Files\TapRooT\MSDE
- Run the MSDE Setup program with this command exactly as typed:
SETUP /L*V C:\Logfile.TXT SAPWD=taproot
This will set your MSDE password to 'taproot'. This is the password you normally enter twice on the Application's MSDE Installation window.
- At this point, you should see the familiar MSDE setup windows.
NOTE:
-
If the installation fails or rolls back, the C:\LOGFILE.TXT
should have a clue buried in it somewhere. Do not delete this file in
case TapRooT® Technical Support needs it in the future.
It would also be helpful if you would check the Event Viewer for any related error messages:
- Go the START menu / Control Panels / Administrative Tools / Event Viewer
- On the left side, select the APPLICATION item.
- On the right side, look for entries with the same date/time as the installation attempt. The SOURCE column may contain 'MsiInstaller'. Double-click the item to view its detail.
If the installation was not successful, please contact TapRooT® Technical Support and include LOGFILE.TXT and all accompanying errors and warnings found in the Event Viewer.1) Go to C:\Program Files\TapRooT and double click the Reset TapRooT Registry Key.reg file. Say YES to accept these changes.
2) Open the TapRooT® program by double-clicking the icon on the desktop and it will successfully install a blank database and allow you to finish the TapRooT® software installation.
