Tech Support Thursday: Version 5 Beta Incoming!
Hello everybody, welcome back to another week of Tech Support Thursday.
This week I’m going to be sharing with you some Top Secret Information: What Version 5 is looking like, our current progress, and an example screen where you would enter data.
To learn more, just keep reading.
TapRooT System Software Version 5 represents a radical new way of using the TapRooT® System—via web page! This web-driven software is powerful, robust and best of all, doesn’t need any seperate client installations! Suddenly, if you have a web browser, you have the ability to world-class root cause analysis.
Due note that a full Windows client is being developed in addition to the web-based component for those who work out in the field. However, for those in the office, you’ll be seeing screens that look much like these:

Version 5 Login Screen
And this is what it looks like when you click on “Anonymous Report of an Incident”:

An Anonymous Report Input Screen
Currently we’re shooting for beta testing of the new software this week and subsequently I’ll be able to provide more information as time goes by.
Thanks for reading, see you next week!

Will the new v5 (standalone client version) support the use of a MS SQL Server Express 2005? MS has announced the end of support for MSDE and will not support it in the upcoming release of MS Vista.

Bruce,
That is an excellent question. We are trying to make the Version 5 software with as few system requirements and across as many platforms as we can test. We won’t have a final list of these requirements for the standalone client version for some time, but we certainly are looking at all options considering Microsofts stance on MSDE. Thanks for your comment. Anyone else interested in Microsofts stance can check out this link.

It would be nice to include a investigation Start Date and Start Time. This helps stay in compliance with PSM/RMP requirements for those of us who worry about that can of thing.

Answer:
Richard - Good to hear from you.
Version 4 already has this (see the incident information page) and Investigation Start Date and Start Time will continue to be available in Version 5.
Thanks
