Tech Support Thursday: User’s Guide Correction!
Hello everybody, welcome to another edition of Tech Support Thursday.
Today we’re going to talk about inaccuracies or, rather, confusion regarding certain actions. Specifically, the TapRooT System Software User’s Guide and how it addresses updating your serial number.

The problem came to us via phone call. A customer had recently printed out the User’s Guide and purchased a copy of the software. Then came time to install it. He found on Page 19 that it speaks of inputting your serial number during installation. Therefore the conclusion must be to reinstall the software to change it from demo to purchased, right?
Wrong!
The correct method is later detailed in the User’s Guide, on Page 135. You can also find instructions on how to do this in this blog post, one that is linked on the homepage of this blog for the very reason that it can be a bit confusing on how to update this value.
Do note, however, that we changed the behavior in the software beginning with 4.0.6 to show you the “Software Options” screen on startup if your demo has expired, allowing you to enter another serial number.
