City Employee Charged with Lying About Crane Inspection
The New York Times reports that a New York City Buildings Department Inspector, Edward Marquette, was charged with falsely indicated that he inspected the crane on March 4 (before the crane failure).
The Commissioner of the Buildings Department said that:
“With regard to the crane accident itself, it is highly unlikely that a March 4 inspection would have prevented the horrific accident that happened on March 15…”

What did he say???
An inspection would have certainly increased awareness of the present danger and the city could have then taken steps to evacuate the residents and mitigate the danger, wouldn’t it?
When did the Commissioner say this and did he elaborate? Can I get a link for his complete comments?

He was arrested. He probably won’t say anything under the advice of an attorney.
By the way, there was an inspection performed after his skipped inspection and it did NOT catch the problem.
The problem wasn’t in an item that was on the inspection schedule.
The link for my source can be obtained by clicking on the “New York Times” article link. Otherwise, you might Google the quote and see what comes up.
Thanks
