The National Reporting and Learning Service at the NPSA aims to help improve patient care in the NHS with rapid responses to incidents, analysis of incidents that come to us via the National Reporting and Learning System and the collaborative development of actions that can be implemented locally. The Human Factors team, which sits within Specialist Programmes, contributes to this by developing human factors projects and contributing human factors expertise across the work of the NPSA. We are currently recruiting a Human Factors Project Lead and a Human Factors Lead on fixed term contracts to cover maternity leave between November 2008 to September 2009.You’ll contribute to the work of the Human Factors team across a range of projects and provide a central focus for human factors issues and activities within the NPSA. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our human factors strategy and to work in different teams where you’ll be developing, evaluating and implementing solutions.
As well as a relevant postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD in human factors/ergonomics, applied psychology or related discipline), you should have experience of working in a safety critical setting across a wide range of projects. Experience or either systems design, usability of devices, safety culture or team working would be an advantage. Experience of managing projects and stakeholders engagement is essential.

The posts are part time as you stated but is there a possibility that they could lead to a full time position at all?
