I don’t think any of us have the skill to be able to duplicate that shot.
My first real opportunity to break 40 for 9 holes (I was 2 over after 7 and #9 was a long par 3) and I wanted to par #8 so badly. I sliced into the woods but had a path to the green – a stiff 7 iron. I nailed the ball, it hit a tree, bounced back and struck me on the chin. To add insult to injury, I ended up shooting a 49 with a bogey on the 9th.
I was a 28 handicap at the time.
