Job Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Biology, Natural Science, Health and Safety, Engineering or related scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Will typically possess five or more years experience performing environmental, engineering, Department of Transportation compliance, enforcement related functions and/or auditing functions. Demonstrated working knowledge of EH&S or DOT regulations and programs applicable to an electric utility. Demonstrated experience participating on/ with interdisciplinary teams and support organizations. Demonstrated effective communication and presentation skills.

Preferences:

Certificate: ISO 14001. Experience auditing national and international electric utility operations and facilities including power generation, transmission and distribution or DOT enforcement experience. Familiarity with risk management processes. Certifications including ISO 14001, Certified Safety Professional, II A or other applicable certifications and/or training.

Typical Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of a senior auditor or manager, perform EH&S audits and reviews of regulated and unregulated utility operations or may lead a specific section of the audit plan as a team member. Develops recommendations related to a departments policies, procedures, or operations. As sole auditor on routine and/or structured audit tasks, provides status updates and serves as point of contact to auditee under guidance of a senior auditor or manager. May participate on joint audit ventures and cross-departmental teams. May support the conduct and performance of special audits and projects as assigned by the Audit Manager including but not limited to real estate, security, and risk management. Review and document internal management systems and controls. Travel, domestic and international, up to 50% may be required. Prepare detailed audit protocols and programs. Prepare accurate written reports to senior management.

Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills.

Master of Science or Engineering in a related scientific or engineering discipline. Experience auditing national and international electric utility operations and facilities including power generation, transmission and distribution and/or DOT and hazardous materials shipping. Familiarity with risk management processes. Certifications including ISO 14001 Certified Safety Professional, II A or other applicable certifications and/or training.

Experience in leading EH&S or DOT audits and reviews in a Team Leader role. Strong working knowledge of EH&S regulations and programs applicable to the electric utility industry. Demonstrated ability to interact with senior managers and support organizations. Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills.

Assist in selecting and directing EH&S audit contractor support. Support the conduct and performance of special audits and projects as assigned by the Audit Manager including but not limited to real estate, security, and risk management. Review and document internal management systems and controls and participate on teams to develop improvements. Travel, domestic and international, up to 50 percent may be required. Prepare detailed audit protocols and programs. Prepare accurate written reports to senior management and assist and/or prepare management presentations. Serve as team leader for the development and improvement of EH&S audits division programs and initiatives.
