Here is the story:

“Yesterday afternoon, the Zhuzhou Prefecture Government convened a news conference to announce the results of these investigations. A spokesman stated that Chen Ping, the head of the Zhuzhou Prefecture Construction Department and secretary of its party organization; Zeng Jian-hua, a member of the a member of the Zhuzhou Prefecture Construction Department party organization, as well as chief engineer responsible for liasion for the project, and Ding Wei, the chairman of the Zhuzhou Prefecture Construction Department Information Office, and the individual in charge of the Hong Qi Road Overpass Project, all bore major responsibility for the Hong Qi Road Overpass collapse, and would be dismissed from both the party and their official positions.”

So, the “result” of the investigation is firing people.  If there was indeed corruption it should be dealt with but why do I get a sense that the “investigation” did not yield any meaningful way to prevent recurrence?
