How Far Away is Death?

  1. This is an old subject dear to my heart; a previous activity and occupation was parachuting (skydiving) and parachute equipment rigging. This more likely a base jump with a pilot-chute assist attached to the statues hand, and therefore as long as there is enough clear air below, the parachute should deploy safely; landing it is a different issue.

If system is being deployed whilst free-falling (176 feet/sec at terminal velocity) past the statue, then that is a different range of risks and and possible outcomes.
