Bucket Trucks Headed South – WATCH OUT!

Yesterday I was driving north on I-75. In 15 minutes I counted over 25 bucket trucks headed south.

Why?

Repositioning equipment to deal with the destruction from Gustav.

One additional thing for crews to watch out for while responding to an emergency …

Fatigue!

Crews often work 12 or more hours per day for days on end. Then fatigue can cause errors that just don’t make sense. People do “stupid things.” They “fail to be careful.” They “hurry up to get the job done” and “take shortcuts.”

Watch out for excessive work hours. In hazardous work, they foreshadow fatalities.
