Career Development: Social Media Giant Plans to Offer Job Board
Today, LinkedIn is the most recognized social networking site for professionals – boasting over 150 million members. But a not-so-new kid on the social networking block, (boasting over 900 million members), is planning to enter into this territory: Facebook.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the social networking giant is planning to offer a job board that will display the job postings of third party providers.
This is in line with Facebook’s Social Jobs Partnership announcement last October. At that time, it was released that Facebook and the U.S. Department of Labor were creating a “Social Jobs Partnership” to “facilitate employment for America’s jobless through the use of social networks.”
Since many social network users like to keep their personal and professional profiles separate, it will be interesting to see where this leads. What do you think? Would you use Facebook for professional networking?
