City Employee Charged with Lying About Crane Inspection

The New York Times reports that a New York City Buildings Department Inspector, Edward Marquette, was charged with falsely indicated that he inspected the crane on March 4 (before the crane failure).

The Commissioner of the Buildings Department said that:

“With regard to the crane accident itself, it is highly unlikely that a March 4 inspection would have prevented the horrific accident that happened on March 15…”
