Session Description

Converting from paper procedures to interactive, digital procedures can be an effective method for facilitating procedure use and adherence as well as maintaining correct and updated procedures. However, as with the adoption of any new technology, there are many ways that this conversion can go wrong—possibly negating any benefits of converting to digital procedures and likely introducing new risks and problems. In this talk, Dr. Peres will share some of her team’s findings that shed light on important things to do and avoid when converting to digital procedures. 

Speaker Bio

Dr. S. Camille Peres is an Associate Professor with Environmental and Occupational Health and an Associate Director of the ErgoCenter at Texas A&M University. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Rice University in 2005 and does collaborative research on Human Factors and high-risk processing industries such as the oil and gas industry, chemical processing, and emergency response. She is currently involved in investigations regarding performance implications for procedure design and use, understanding Human Robotic Interaction in disaster environments, and measuring team performance in Emergency Operations. Dr. Peres is a Certified Human Factors Professional and regularly gives talks to industry groups regarding Human Factors and high-risk industries.
