Dream Team of TapRooT® Summit Speakers

This Year’s Dream Team…

Every year we had a great team of speakers at the Global TapRooT® Summit. Years ago I realized I get to pick the Summit speakers so why not pick people I really want to hear from.

Who do we have this year?

Our closing Keynote Speaker is Frank Abagnale. If his name doesn’t ring a bell, go watch the movie Catch Me if You Can.

To start the second day we have Astronaut Jim Wetherbee, He will be interviewed by Mark Paradies. The topic? Making improvement happen.

The closing spear on Wednesday is the comedian Don McMillan. What does he have to say that applies to you? Attend and see.

The opening speaker is Marcus Miller presenting Will Discipline and Criminalization Stop Accidents? Marcus has interesting insights, especially for people in the Houston and Nashville areas.

And the closing speaker on Thursday is me, Mark Paradies, talking about Lives Saved and Performance Improved. I presenting this with several guest speakers. Come and see who they are.

With No Limits, Who Would You Pick?

That’s a great list. But I got thinking … If I had no limits, who would I pick?

There have been people that I wanted to speak at the Summit, but they were too expensive (a couple up around $100,000 for a talk). There have been some that declined because they said they were too old – just could handle flying anymore. But what if there were NO LIMITS?

What do I mean, no limits? First, no budget restraints. But then I got thinking … What if I could bring people back from the past … Who would I pick?

Here’s the list…

  1. Jesus
  2. W. Edwards Deming
  3. Admiral Rickover
  4. Martin Luther King or Margaret Thatcher or Gandhi or Charlemagne
  5. Lincoln or JFK or Washington
  6. Dr. Charles Hopkins

So my opening speaker would be Jesus. I don’t care what religion you are, this is someone you should hear from.

Closing day 1 would be W. Edwards Deming. I’ve always kicked myself that I didn’t hear him talk while he was alive.

Opening day 2 would be Admiral Rickover. I think people would be very interested in his philosophy for achieving excellence. And you never know what he would say.

Closing day 2 I would pick from a selection of worldwide political speakers. It really was too hard to pick just one. I’d have to get a translator for Charlemagne. Maybe I should do a panel discussion?

Finally, for the closing speaker, I’d pick from a list of historical Presidential figures. Wow! That would make another great panel discussion!

Then I decided to toss in a Lunch speaker. I added my Human Factors mentor from the University of Illinois – Dr. Charles Hopkins. He spoke at the first Summit. A few years later he died unexpectedly. I really would like to talk to him again. That got me thinking about bringing back my Mom and Dad and other close relatives to talk to them again. Wow! You never know where these thoughts will go! There are so many people you miss…

What are your practical ideas for speakers for the 2021 Summit? (Leave ideas as comments.)

Who would you pick as a speaker if you had no limits?

Who would you like to hear from or talk to again?

Who should you speak to today, before you or they run out of time?

    From Alex Paradies:

Very Powerful and emotional list of Current and Dream Summit Speakers Listed by Mark Paradies. Who would be in your Conference Keynote dream team!!! My dream speaker list in no particular order would be …..

    1. Taiichi Ohno or James Womack or Henry Ford
    2. Penn & Teller
3.Herbert William Heinrich or Tony Mazzocchi
    4. Jaco Willink or Simon Sinek
    5. Mark Paradies

Speaker 1. I would really like to hear from one of the fathers of the modern Manufacturing System
Speaker 2. We need good entertainment and Penn & Teller can make anything funny and interesting
Speaker 3. It would provide some good perspective to hear from some of the early proponents of the modern concept of HSE
Speaker 4. I have found a lot of value in both of these speakers on leadership and think more people should hear what they have to say.
Speaker 5. It couldn’t be a perfect TapRooT® summit lineup without hearing from Mark Paradies. The good news is he will actually be Speaking in Austin to speak.
