Has BP Found the Root Cause?

The Houston Chronicle reports that a six month internal BP review conducted by the new CEO, Tony Hayward, has found “organizational complexity” as the cause of their operational and safety problems.

CEO Tony Hayward, who assumed the top post in May upon the abrupt resignation of John Browne, led a six-month review of the London-based oil giant’s operational performance, which identified “wide-ranging duplication, overlap and excessive organizational complexity” that caused a competitive shortfall in comparison with its peers, the company said.
