High Fatality Mine Accident in China

Tragic.  Here is the story:

While we don’t know much about this particular event yet, we do know that some of the laws, processes, and enforcement is lacking in the developing countries in many cases.  Here is the US we have the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) who ensures American mine workers are safe.  Nevertheless, the industry performs a high risk activity and one mistake can mean many lives as we have seen in the not-too-distant past. 

Let’s hope the Chinese authorities do all possible to strengthen their processes so something like this never happens again.  Sometimes it takes a major event to wake people up…..unfortunately.  This is not the first time as you can see in the article so maybe this is wishful thinking.
