Las Vegas Helldorado Days 2007!

Take our 5-Day TapRooT® Root Cause Analysis Team Leader Training in Las Vegas May 14 through 18 and enjoy a famous Las Vegas tradition!

In 1934, several prominent businessmen, (members of the Elks Lodge), noticed that the workers who helped build the Hoover Dam didn’t stay in Las Vegas after the Dam was completed. So they hired an event organizer to create a multi-day festival to attract more people back to the area and Helldorado was born. “Helldorado” was named after the Wild West “eldorado” (golden riches) that miners hoped to find out West. But their hopes were soon dashed and they found themselves living in “Helldorado”.

The success of the first Helldorado led the Elks to expand the itinerary to include a full-scale rodeo and beauty parade in 1936. The event continued to grow and was held each year during World War II, (when cowboys received gasoline rationing coupons to help them get to Las Vegas). Today, the event (still sponsored by the Elks Lodge) raises community spirit as well as money for local charities. Helldorado will run through the entire month of May and continues to include Western themed events, like Kangaroo Court, Rodeo and several parades.

What else is there to do in Las Vegas? Well, everyone has heard of the Las Vegas Strip, (Las Vegas Boulevard) with its shows, nightlife, luxury hotels and cascinos. But don’t lose your hard earned money on The Strip because you didn’t understand the ins and outs of pai gow poker. Take a gaming class! Most of the casinos offer gaming classes five days a week, and the classes are usually free.

Of course, Las Vegas offers many more attractions besides Helldorado and The Strip, including Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat (and White Tiger Habitat) at the Mirage, the The Liberace Museum, Stratosphere Tower, Shark Reef Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay, The Star Trek Experience and Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand.

There’s so much to see in do in Las Vegas, this class will fill up fast! Register today so we can save a seat for you!
