Session Description
Benna Hughes and Heidi Reed will be facilitating this session. Come ready to share a CAPA Best Practice from your experience and be ready to learn from others. Best practice sharing is one of the powerhouse features of the Global TapRooT® Summit. We’d want you to put some thought into this before you attend and be ready to share!
Derek Vanhoy will share a CAPA example. During an interior modification to a customer Aircraft, a technician performed a task incorrectly causing the Aircraft to perform in a manner that was not within its capabilities. The Aircraft departed INT and landed in EWR and required further maintenance to fix the issue at hand.
Speaker Bios
Benna Hughes has been with System Improvements since 2006. Her background prior to coming to System Improvements was in finance and marketing, as well as being the Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of a Fortune 500 company. As Implementation Strategist at System Improvements, Benna enjoys working with companies around the world to help determine the right path they need to take to successfully utilize TapRooT® and help them organize onsite TapRooT® courses.
Heidi Reed is an independent EHS Consultant and Trainer as well as a Certified Safety Manager. She has a background as a consultant in Small Business Health and Safety and has a depth of experience as a manager in Global Health and Safety. Reed’s skills as a Lead Investigator have been spread across a diversity of industries and disciplines: mining, general industry, construction, quality, and production incidents. She has additional experience as a professional Health and Safety Administrator and Trainer. Reed is a TapRooT® Instructor and a Team Leader. She is also certified as an assessor in Ergonomics. A quote from Reed’s email signature succinctly sums up her dedicated focus on safety: “To say accidents are due to human failing is like saying falls are due to gravity. It is true but it does not help us prevent them” (Trevor Kletz, 1922-2013).
Derek Vanhoy has over 19 years in the Aviation Industry, holding the positions of Heavy Maintenance Technician, Manufacturing Assembler, Aircraft Interior Fabricator, Quality Control Inspector, Lead Quality Assurance Auditor, Assistant SMS (Safety Management System) Coordinator, and SRM (Safety Risk Management) Coordinator with multiple Maintenance Repair and Overhaul facilities and Aircraft Manufacturing companies. He also has over 12 years of experience in a combat-related MOS in the US Army including one combat tour to the Middle East from 2019-2020. He is currently serving in the North Carolina National Guard as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer with a Field Artillery Unit based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
