LIVE from Texas: The 2014 Global TapRooT® Summit! Day 1
Today we kicked off the 2014 Global TapRooT® Summit, and it has started with a bang! With over 350 attendees from across industries and across the globe, the Horseshoe Bay Resort is abuzz with activity.
The Name Game is always a fun networking game we play every year. We made some great connections!
We started our day with a motivating and energizing keynote address from Christine Cashen, with the snappy title of “Why Brainstorm When You Can Brain El Nino?” We learned tips on how to amp up our brainstorming and problem solving ability in the workplace and in our lives. One of my favorite lines was,”There’s a direct link between the ‘ah ha!’ Idea moment and the ‘ha ha’ of laughter.”
During our very first Best Practice session, we took part in an attendee favorite: TapRooT® Users Share Best Practies… TapRooT® Users gathered together in round table discussions of their tips, tricks, & best practices for using TapRooT® to investigate incidents and accidents at their facilities. We got these on film, so look out in the following weeks for their innovative ideas on the blog!
We also enjoyed a Mark Robinson’s comedy & magic act during lunch. Here, he cuts open an orange to find Jennifer H.’s dollar bill! He wore his PPE, of course!
Akivah Northern taught a fascinating session called “Systems RCA of Intergenerational Issues.” I’ve never seen TapRooT® investigation techniques applied to behavioral & human resource issues in a way that relates to personal and professional life so well. You’ll have to see our video of this in the coming months – it’s too good to miss!
And we ended our first fantastic day with Canadian rockstar Carl Dixon. After decades of rocking with bands like April Wine and The Guess Who, he suffered terrible injuries in a car accident. His inspirational keynote address about his recovery got our feet tapping and our minds inspired and motivated to persevere, despite the challenges we may face.
Now we move on to our Wednesday Night Reception here at the Horseshoe Bay Resort, where Carl will rock us with his acoustic skill and the Yacht Club will serve us delicious hors d’oeuvres. Join us on the blog tomorrow for more Summit live action!
