Monday Accident & Lessons Learned: Deadly Cornfield Accident Kills Two Teenage Workers

I grew up in Illinois. I de-tasseled corn and was a de-tasseling crew boss. The main hazard we faced was heat prostration/stroke and vehicle accidents. But this crew was decimated by an unexpected electrical hazard in a muddy field.

What a tragedy.

We never had any irrigation equipment to contend with where I worked. And a lightning strike causing a short …  that has to be rare.
