Monday Accident & Lessons Learned: Hitchin’ a Ride on a Railcar Costs Three Young Adults Their Lives

This one is a sad story.

Five people had hidden themselves in a rail car full of steel I-beams for a free ride to Florida. Unfortunately, when the train was being made up, the force of connecting cars caused the steel to shift and crush (and kill) three of the people hiding in the car.

Lesson learned? Everybody but authorized employees should know to STAY OUT of industrial facilities. This includes trains and rail yards. Parents, teach your kids. Young adults, discourage your friends from bad ideas.

The hazards are real and nobody is looking out for trespassers.
