Monday Motivation: How to get good advice.

Why are most of us willing to take advice from anyone? Friends, family and neighbors mean well (usually) but would you seek advice from a friend about money who doesn’t have money? Would you seek advice from a neighbor about health who is morbidly obese? Would you seek advice from a family member about a relationship who struggles with relationships?

Motivate yourself to seek out people who will give you the right advice. It takes extra effort because they may not be the people who surround you.  Two rules of thumb:

1. Carefully evaluate advice from someone who doesn’t have to live with the possible consequences.

2. Think seriously about the advice from someone who you wouldn’t trade places with on the matter.
