NTSB to Investigate Fire on Cruise Ship
The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an
investigation into a fire that occurred in the engine room
of the Panamanian-flagged cruise ship Carnival Splendor on
the morning of November 8 while it was cruising in the
Pacific Ocean about 150 nautical miles south of San
Diego. The ship was carrying 3,299 passengers and 1,167
crewmembers.
NTSB investigator Larry Bowling will serve as Investigator-
in-Charge.
