Pictures from 5 Day TapRooT® Advanced Root Cause Analysis Team Leader Training for ConocoPhillips in Kuparuk, Alaska

Kevin McManus and I are on the North Slope of Alaska this week doing a 5 day course for ConocoPhillips.  On day two of the five day course we focus on collecting information and interview techniques; see the pictures of students working on the interview exercise:

This is an amazing operation; not only is the company raising the bar on root cause analysis by using TapRooT®, this is a VPP site, so there are a lot of good things going on up here.  It is no accident when companies/sites perform at this level; it takes work and commitment.  I often wonder why more companies don’t understand that investing in improvement saves money and lives.  Why not raise the bar on your improvement efforts and hold an onsite course at your facility?  Call us at 865.539.2139 for a quote and let’s get started.

By the way, many of the participants this week are contractors for the site; does your site consider contractors part of the team or do they operate separately?  If you want to be world class your contractors must be engaged.  Adding contractors to your onsite course also makes it more cost effective and builds morale at the site.

Congratulations to those who have made the commitment to improve and raise the bar.  You’ll be one of the few who survive and come out of the downturn stronger than ever.
