Ship Collision “possible professional negligence”

A Japanese destroyer and a South Korean container ship collided and caught fire in a narrow straight.

No serious injuries were reported and both ships where able to continue underway. However, extensive damage was done to the destroyer.

The article from AP in Japan says:

Officials are investigating the case as possible professional negligence and have begun questioning crew members on both ships, Izumi said.”

The article also had a quote from the Japanese Defense Minister, Toshimi Kitazawa:

We deeply apologize to the people for causing concerns,” he said. “We will quickly find out what caused the accident.
