Important Tips for 2023 Global TapRooT® Summit Participants

Are you attending the 2023 Global TapRooT® Summit? Then the following is the information that you need! (If you haven’t registered yet, you can register HERE.)

1. Bring Business Cards …

You need these for the new people you will meet. (Instead, you may want to connect via LinkedIn.)

2. Dress for Summit

Recommended dress is Business Casual.

Definitely bring a coat or sweater … It may be chilly in the conference center.

Then there is the Wednesday night “Parrot Head” reception with music by Lost Shaker of Salt (a Jimmy Buffet tribute band). Here are some Jimmy Buffet fan pictures to give you some ideas…

So bring your finest Hawaiian shirt or Mumu dress and straw hat.

3. Food

Breakfast and lunch are supplied at the Summit and at the pre-Summit courses. There will also be food and drink at the Wednesday night Summit reception. We will try as best as possible to accommodate special meal requests, but … you don’t get your own private chef!

4. Breakfast Networking

Breakfast on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday is from 8-9.

Registration will be open during breakfast on Wednesday. 

Breakfast is a great place to meet new people and discuss what you are learning at the Summit. Come early and make it a leisurely meal.

6. Margaritaville Conference Center Layout and Muster Point

The Margaritaville Conference Center is across from the hotel (there is a covered walkway that connects them).

7. Reception on Wednesday

Plan to attend the Wednesday night TapRooT® Summit Parrot Head Reception from 5pm – 7:30pm. There will be live music, food, and drinks. It is a great place to meet people and make friends. Your guest is invited, too. Lost Shaker of Salt will provide musical entertainment.

8. Be On Time

Don’t miss the OPENING WELCOME at 9 AM on Wednesday. You will have three people looking to meet you during THE NAME GAME (and three people you will be looking for) and a reward for completing the game. Also, you will get a ticket for a prize drawing whenever you are on time for any session.

9. DON’T LEAVE EARLY! 

Friday is an important day at the Summit. The Certified Instructor Information Sessions are on Friday, as well as the Keynote Speaker Frank Abagnale.

You may remember Frank Abagnale from the movie Catch Me If You Can. He was played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

The movie wasn’t an accurate depiction of Mr. Abagnale’s life, but it was based on it.

Frank W. Abagnale is one of the world’s most respected authorities on the subjects of forgery, embezzlement, and secure documents, and that will be the topic of his talk.

Mr. Abagnale has been associated with the FBI for over four decades. He lectures extensively at the FBI Academy and for the field offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He is a faculty member at the National Advocacy Center (NAC), which is operated by the Department of Justice, Executive Office for United States Attorneys. More than 14,000 financial institutions, corporations, and law enforcement agencies use his fraud prevention programs. In 1998, he was selected as a distinguished member of “Pinnacle 400” by CNN Financial News. Today Mr. Abagnale is a member of the Board of Editors for Bank Fraud and IT Security, as well as the Financial Fraud Law Report. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the LexisNexis Fraud Defense Network, as well as an Advisory Board Member of the University of New Haven Masters in Investigation Program.
