Summit Success Stories: TapRooT® – Getting Risk Management Started on the Road

Lee Dawson, Kellogg Brown & Root Pty Ltd (KBR), South Bank, Queensland, Australia will be presenting a TapRooT® User Success Story at the Summit on Thursday, June 26, 1:00 p.m.. He will talk about discovering true causes behind teenage road trauma, and how TapRooT® identified cognitive awareness. This helped develop an incredibly successful training program that teaches high school students road risk management. This program is now saving our kids lives on our roads, and is being made available free to all high schools.

Lee has been using TapRooT® since 1998. Some of his success stories have resulted in multi-million dollar savings. These include:

* Completion of a feasibility study for converting paper waste products into a labor saving, environmentally friendly, resellable products that are suitable for export. This innovation used the TapRooT® system when focusing in on manual handling injuries caused by lifting waste paper products that often spilled onto the floor and required cleaning.

* Completion of a digitally enhanced and controlled quality management system for manufacturing programs. Currently being used for food safety purposes this innovation used the TapRooT® system when focusing in on overruns creating manual handling and soft tissue injuries caused by lifting products that required sorting.

* Controlling gas leaks through innovation from an Amine moulding process at a large foundry. This innovation used the TapRooT® system when identifying possible areas of leakage caused by unrelated processes, and various environmental aspects of controls that were previously overlooked.

* Introducing fog inside hot, dusty buildings to change the nature of airborne contaminates in a very toxic environment – TapRooT® identified the potential for making airborne partials heavier by encapsulating the various contaminates in water droplets, thus making them heavier and easier to collect

Lee’s experience expands over 25 years of direct safety management, including Oil and Gas, Heavy Engineering, Mining and Manufacturing. He is a member of a number of professional bodies and volunteers his safety experience within many charity organizations across Australia.
