The Event Free Performance Toolbook
The Event Free Performance Toolbook is just one of the sessions planned on the Behavior Change & Stopping Human Error track at the 2009 TapRooT® Summit in Nashville, Tennessee, October 7-9, 2009.
ComEd utilizes the Event Free Performance Toolbook to provide tools that are aimed at eliminating events, and to assist in learning how to prevent repeat events through investigation and analysis to identify causes and complete effective corrective actions. Work force effectiveness depends on industrial safety and human performance. Several of these tools are the very “building blocks” contained and referenced in ComEd’s Fundamentals of Operational Execution. Together they work to prevent injuries and performance errors caused by inappropriate behavior, leadership practices, and organizational weaknesses. ComEd has developed dynamic learning activities to support learning and reinforcement of the Event Free Performance Toolbook.
Steve Franker will be leading this session. Steve is an overhead construction foreman for Commonwealth Edison, the largest electrical utility that services northern Illinois and the greater Chicagoland area. He has been with the company for four years and has spent the last two years training bargaining unit and management employees on the benefits of the Event Free Performance Toolbook adopted by the company in 2006. Steve has also spent most of the last year working on a special team that is working on improving the companies ACE investigations by using a dedicated team and the use of TapRooT® software and principles.
