Three Job Openings – Associate Manager of EH&S at Amgen

Associate Manager EH&S (three positions available)

Location: Thousand Oaks , CA / Cambridge , MA

The Associate Manager EH&S works with the Corporate EH&S team and Amgen senior and mid-level management to provide independent, objective EH&S assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the operations of the Company. Assists to effectively plan, coordinate, and conduct periodic EH&S audits of in accordance with approved annual audit plans. Will act in the role of an EH&S audit team member, team leader and perform environmental, health and safety audits independently. Will be required to manage EH&S audit contractors.

Exercises good judgment and initiative in handling confidential issues of significance to the Company. Strong to good written and oral communication skills; strong analytical skills; help build teams; provides leadership and good business acumen (knowledge of business drivers, finding solutions and knowledge of business areas). Use of technical knowledge in industrial hygiene, safety and/or pharmaceutical or biotech business.

Discharges responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with The Institute of Internal Auditors’ Code of Ethics, Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and Statement of Responsibilities.

Domestic and international travel approximately 30% per year.

Strong knowledge of auditing concepts and practices. Self-starter with sound organizational and communication skills, including the ability to effectively and confidentially interact with senior and mid-level management. Experience in leading EH&S audits in large, complex sites. Pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Basic Qualifications:

8 years of progressive experience in environmental, health and safety auditing.

Project and change management experience is required.

Experience with managing EH&S audit contractors.

Possess a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering, industrial hygiene, safety or business administration.

Advanced certification (i.e., CIH, CSP, CPEA , PE ).
