Experience Houston

Below, we’re sharing some sights, experiences, and tastes for you to discover in this modern southwestern city. Be sure to check out more to explore on our TapRooT Houston Pinterest board.

Year-round, Houston’s terrific parks motivate you to get outside and explore. Buffalo Bayou Park has 160 green-space acres, with walking and biking trails, sculptures and a fountain. See terrific views of Houston’s skyline from this park. Memorial Park is known for its walking trails, horseback riding, golf, and trail biking, plus the Nature Center. Hermann Park has the 55-acre Houston Zoo. Discovery Green is an urban park that offers a couple of great eateries.

Nineteen impressive museums spread out over four walkable zones to comprise Houston’s Museum District—from the award-winning Museum of Fine Arts, to the Contemporary Arts Museum, to the Menil. Check out the Houston Museum of Natural Science, which has Cockrell Butterfly Center, the Welsh Chemistry Hall, Moran Paleontology Hall, and the Hall of Ancient Egypt.

Space Center Houston is your gateway to NASA Johnson Space Center and offers space attractions, space artifacts, and exhibits for you to explore.

Taste Houston

For very little cash, you can bite into a baguette filled with grilled chicken and pork at Les Givral’s.

About 15 minutes from the hotel, sit down to the perfect balance of flavors in Pad Thai at Tony Thai then go next door to Chez Beignets for some light, fluffy, powdered-sugar bliss.

A few more eateries near the Four Points hotel: Try Texas de Brazil for great steaks and crisp, fresh salads. If you’re in the mood for an upscale dinner, the Capital Grille is the place to be, with dedicated service and rave reviews. Yard House has sports for you to watch, a healthy selection of soups and sandwiches, robust beers, and dishes such as lobster ravioli for you to dive into.  If you’re craving Italian, venture to Radio Milano for a relaxing, delicious meal amid a lovely modern decor. Get your Tex-Mex on at Cyclone Anaya’s, where the margaritas are ice-cold (or frozen) and the menu includes a wide variety from traditional to creative.
