BP Pleads Guilty to Criminal Charges from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Accident
BP has plead guilty to criminal charges related to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon accident and agreed to pay a $4.5 billion dollar fine. In addition, three BP employees have been charged with felony crimes. BP still is fighting civil charges of “gross negligence” that could result in additional fines of up to $20 billion dollars. BP has already spent about $14 billion dollars in the spill response and in reimbursement for commercial and private property damage.
