Session Description

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to understand and manage your emotions and those of the people around you. To be an effective investigator, one must be able to identify emotional, cognitive, and affective behaviors. The Intelligent Investigator knows the skills necessary to understand people, teams, and cultures–no matter the outcome. 

In this interactive session, you will learn the characteristics of Emotionally Intelligent people and the five qualities of Emotional Intelligence. Assessments and practical exercises will equip you to develop or strengthen your EI and ultimately improve the quality of your investigations. 

Speaker Bio

Emily Pritt works in the firearms and marketing industries (typically independent of each other, but sometimes in conjunction). As a Marketing Strategist at System Improvements, Inc., Emily implements ways to engage others through market research analysis and creative content development. Additionally, Emily is an adjunct professor and academic mentor to 1st-year college student-athletes. She is also an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, NRA Certified Refuse to Be a Victim® Instructor, State of Tennessee Licensed Enhanced Handgun Permit Instructor & School Owner, Certified Glock Armorer, Certified Smith&Wesson M&P Armorer, and NRA Chief Range Safety Officer. 

She actively pursues a Doctorate of Philosophy in Social Psychology from Liberty University, holds a Master’s degree in Communication and Information from the University of Tennessee,  a Bachelor of Science in Communication from King University, an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree from Pellissippi State, and a dozen firearms training certifications. She resides in Knoxville with her husband, Jason, and their three children.
