On Location – the 2014 Global TapRooT® Summit: A Fun Glimpse at Marble Falls

Upon a recent visit to the Horseshoe Bay Resort, future site of the the 2014 Global TapRooT® Summit, our team ventured into the small town of Marble Falls to see what it might offer Summit attendees and spouses. The following is a report from Judy Potok, our meeting planner. Like Joe Little, our Network Support Specialist, Judy enjoyed the Double Horn Brewing Company, and she has some other tips to share about Marble Falls.

“How glorious it was to find a little gem of a micro-brew, Double Horn Brewing Company, located in Marble Falls, Texas, just 10 minutes from the Horseshoe Bay Resort.

For the benefit of Summit attendees we decided to eat at the Double Horn and I selflessly, again strictly for the benefit of Summit attendees, enjoyed a pint of the Güero Wheat beer. I made sure the waitress knew I didn’t like hoppy beers, so this one was just right for a lightweight like me! The beer is great, but so is the food!

I enjoyed a chicken fried piece of chicken with Texas gravy along with my Güero Wheat beer. This could be a fun place to network with some colleagues after a Pre-summit course on Monday or Tuesday, or after the Thursday general session. Of course, you don’t want to go Wednesday because of the fabulous Summit reception at the resort Yacht Club.

The quaint little downtown area had several other interesting options

The local candy shop, Choccolatte’s (located on historic Main Street), had Texas pecan delicacies, fudge and other goodies that looked like they would be melt-in-your-mouth yummy. Bringing your spouse? It’s the perfect place for your spouse to browse and pick up a few gifts to take back home. They are open from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The BookShop is another day-trip option for your spouse. This independently owned bookstore (also located on Main Street) is a relaxing place to explore after breakfast or lunch. The little dog in the store will greet you with a friendly bark as you enter to browse the titles on display.
